On to the fifth installment of this series of newer sounds. Well newer sounds to me. Really enjoyed delving into dream pop and the DIY world of bedroom lo-fi.

We kick things off with a band from Seattle, Washington called Seapony – Nothing’s Right from their Be Here Again EP available on Bandcamp. The song has a little bit of Joy Division the Peel Sessions faster version of Love Will Tear Us Apart. And even more from the Tape Waves and the wonderful Arbes.

So here is C90 4 ~ I guess if this was on a tape this would be the B side of the second C90 cassette.

This edition contains more from the wonderful 10″ by The Shacks. Number 3 in my series of 45 minute mixes. More Bandcamp and digging into my old vaults.  An old favourite The Russian Futurists make an appearance, more from the “Spirit Of Akasha” Original Film Soundtrack and finishing with the oh so wonky Connan Mockasin. I went to see him play in London a few years ago, a lovely small venue that can’t remember the name of now, only slightly ruined by one Mr Jarvis Cocker talking all the way through it.

Mark Gardner asked me to supply something for his new mixtape series. The idea being a mix that would sit on one side of a C90 cassette tape. So around 45 minutes long. I really wanted to move away from the Folk Funk and AOR stuff for the mix. And put together a mix of newer stuff I had been listening too. Mainly Bandcamp finds. The influence came from “Spirit Of Akasha” Original Film Soundtrack which in turn was a Celebration of the seminal Australian film Morning Of The Earth. It introduced some new names to me and I ended up digging into Australian artists.
